Please submit a current resume or curriculum vitae. Please limit this to two pages.
Essay Questions
In order to ensure consistency between applications, please observe the following guidelines in preparing your essays:
- Begin each typed essay on a separate page.
- Restate the essay question at the beginning of each essay.
- Your full name and the title of the section should appear on the upper right corner of each page. The page number should appear on the bottom right corner of each page.
- Use 12-point font size and one-inch margins on all sides throughout your responses.
- Use Times New Roman font.
- Use 1.5 line spacing.
In no more than 2 pages, please answer the following:
1. What significant personal/and or professional factors have most informed your present outlook? How does this impact your relationship to your community and your approach to leadership?
In no more than 1 page, please answer the following:
2. What are you seeking to gain through your involvement with the Fellows Program?
Letters of Recommendation: All Fellows are required to submit two letters of recommendation with their application. A standard recommendation form can be found here. Letters of recommendation may come from someone who has worked with you in a professional setting, community or volunteer colleagues, college faculty and/or other personal references (not including relatives). Please request all recommendation letters to be on letterhead. Send to: 22 N. Front #500, Memphis, TN 38103
Tuition: The total cost to each participant is $1,000. Local corporations, foundations and alumni are underwriting the remaining program cost. Upon acceptance to the program, a non-refundable program fee of $250 is required to hold your spot in the class. The remaining balance will be due no later than 180 days after the start of class. Please make check(s) payable to: The Leadership Academy. All major credit cards are accepted.

Commitment to 100% Participation: It is important for each participant to embark in this process fully committed to the program and to his or her classmates. Attendance at all Fellows events is expected during the 12 months of training. The first three days of the program; Foundations and Memphis 101; as well as attending Team Trek are mandatory attendance. NOTE: April classes are primarily in the evenings, whereas the September classes are held mostly during the day.
