Transformative Principal Supervision: NYC

Stronger principal supervision that leads to bold and innovative school leadership in NYC Schools.

Great principals change schools. Strong principal supervision and support makes that change stick.

New York City’s commitment to high-quality curriculum and instruction — through NYC Reads and NYC Solves — depends on school leaders who can bring evidence-based practice to life in every classroom. The NYS Portrait of a Graduate calls for students who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners. Reaching that vision requires principals who lead with purpose and clarity — and supervisors who create the conditions that make that leadership possible.

Built for this moment in New York City Public Schools.

Transformative Principal Supervision is designed to help district leaders do exactly that. In a school system where curriculum mandates are shifting, expectations are rising, and the stakes for every student are high, principal supervisors need more than good intentions — they need the tools, routines, and coaching skills to drive real change at scale.

This NYC-based cohort equips principal supervisors to strengthen instructional leadership, use data to guide decision-making, and build coherent systems that align with NYC Reads, NYC Solves, and the Portrait of a Graduate, with sustained opportunities to practice and apply these skills throughout.

This cohort kicks off in mid-August, with 3 in-person professional learning sessions, 2-3 virtual learning sessions, and one school walkthrough. Participants leave prepared to translate learning into action — with immediate impact in every school they support.
